We also learnt that food allergies have to be written on the packaging. We also learnt about food labels but I wasn't there for that but I do know that on the list of ingredients the first thing on the list is the top ingredient.

English storys (August)

In English, We have been learning about why stories are important. Here is some of my work,

Parable: The Good Samaritan
A parable is a short story with a moral.

The story: Where I got this story from!

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbour? In reply, Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.  A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.  So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.  He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.  The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’“Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”Jesus told him“Go and do likewise.”

Why do you think the author created this story: Teach people to help other people no matter who they are.
What is the author trying to explain: To help others even if you don't like them.

Curiosity topic-8 How Candycanes are made

Factory-workers start by cooking up a batch of sugar, water and corn syrup. Then, they prepare a mix of starch and flavouring, like peppermint or strawberry. As they blend together, the flavouring binds to the starch. The flavouring mix is emptied into the middle of a syrupy slab. Then, the whole thing is put into a machine the folds the batch repeatedly, using shovels and a plunger. This distributes the flavouring evenly. After that, a worker moves it to a machine called automated pullers. These pullers stretch the mixture around a metal post. The candy is then rolled into a fat log, while heaters warm it until it pliable enough to shape. Next, strips of red coloured candy are rolled out. A worker stretches and folds it widen the strip. Two red strips are arranged on either side of the white candy. it's rolled into a cylinder roll the candy thinner and thinner. The candy rope moves through two angled belts that twist it. A chain of knives cut the twisted rope to candy cane size.

Abomination writing.

In English, my class have read a book called Abomination written by Robert Swindell. We had to write an easy, make a static image. After about 3 weeks we had to share our static image to the class. The class marked us on how well we had connected to the book.
Here is my static image.
My commentary:

Static Image Commentary
My static image portrays the idea that.the dark is the twilight zone and the light is normal.
I have shown this by the dark is what she can have E.G Homemade clothes, Plain meals. The light is what she can’t have E.G jewelry, Store-bought clothes, T.V and Sweets

The visual elements I have used include.
On the left it has sweets, a house and some clothes. And on the right
I have used the colour (s) as they represent the things Martha can and can’t use

The quotation I have chosen is relevant because Martha's life isn't great and her house is always dark and mouldy so it is dark and smelly. Twilight zone is there to represent the only things Martha can have and the light colours are to represent the things she can't have.

I didn't really like the book that much but it was really interesting at the end of the book.
