The Croods

 The Croods is a caveman family. I have been tasked with figuring out what homo species they are!!! To start us off I will look at cultural evolution.

They can language which means they have an advanced brain with the brocas area at the very least somewhat developed. This means that they are homo habilis or a later species. They wear clothes that started with homo sapiens. Visually they are larger than the average homo sapien. With this information alone I can conclude the following: In conclusion, they are a  homo sapiens with insane levels of strength, since I have discovered this new species I am going to name them "Homo neanderthalensis"

This article is about Homo Naledi. Who found in the Rising star cave.

They had a mix of Ape like and early Homo adaptations.

For example, its hands, and shoulders are very similar to those of the australopithecines.

They may have still lived in both the trees and in the ground.

They might have gone up into the trees to gather food or stay away from prey.

But then their lower body has more homo features. Since they were found in a cave

, it may be evidence that they buried the dead. T

here are no marks on the bones showing that they were dragged in there by prey.

So people are speculating that others dumped them in the cave to depose them.

Joker

We see this when Joker is standing in the car surrounded by the rioting clowns. Showing that the government is unnecessary is just a social concept and a way for people to gain power.

Absurdism-the belief that human beings exist in a purposeless, chaotic universe.

The idea is that people live in a meaningless universe. 

We see this at the end of Joker when Joker is laughing at a joke he was thinking about and his therapist asks what the joke was, Joker then told her that she wouldn’t get it.

Existentialism-a philosophical theory or approach which emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.

The idea is that we create our own meaning and purpose for our life.

We see this when

Nihilism-the belief that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated.

All values are meaningless and nothing can be known.

We see this when Joker kills his mum.

1. What film techniques/aspects are there? I re-watched the video and realized that at the start the lighting was very dim and around the end it was light. They also yous a variety of different camera angles. Some of the camera angles they used were over the shoulder, close up shot and Pov shot.
2. What do they sound and look like? There was one Pov shot where Eddie was looking at the pill. There was background music.
3. What are their effects?  The detector uses voice overs, background music, A effect of the camera making things look wobbly and text.
4. Why do you think the director used them? I think he want to make the movie look more interesting. He didn't want to give away the whole movie so keep some important details out.
5. How do the aspects combine for effect with other aspects? The lighting changes from dull to brighter. At the start it makes things look sad but in the middle-to end it makes things look happy. This works well because around that time things where going well for Eddie.

The tone of a film is the way the movie/film makes the audience feel.

How is the contrast used in film?

Film directors use a block of text, color and tone to create contrast in their films.

How does the insert shot work in film?

It gets the viewers the see a specific(this can be an object or multiple objects from the personal point of view)

How does the over-the-shoulder shot work?

An over the shoulder shot is when a camera is placed just behind a person's shoulder so you can still see the person's shoulder and what's going on.

How is the Dutch angle used?

A Dutch angle is when the film is recorded on an angle. It is used to signal something disoriented.  

How does production design work in film?

Well, the product designer makes the set for the movie perfect and how the makers of the movie imagined it.

How does film blocking work in film?

Blocking is where the actors are placed on the frame. It helps to make the film look more interesting. They use space, shapes and lines to help make it look very interesting.

Motifs insure that the move is able to operate. They help set the theme of movies and They are all very carefully placed.

Just like in tone in a film, Color is used to set the tone.this lets the audience know the mood of the scene before the actors even speak.

How does camera movement work in film?

Camera movement can help show characters emotions.  It can also show the landscape in other bits in the film.

Pov(Point of view) shots work by showing us what the actor sees.

Day in, Day out all they did was work. They never thought about leaving the small town. Most people had tiny pear-green houses. The houses were green so that they could hide from all predators. The biggest predator was a young girl called Stevie. Stevie had a sickening smell of rotten fruits and vegetables. She smelt so bad it made all the crops die instantly. In the dry season, they had wet the plants with the fog.

About Me

Film studies essay

Close up shots were used effectively in this film. For example, the director, Micheal Creagh, used a close-up shot when Ardel finds out his teacher(Miss Purday) is engaged. This shows the audience that Ardel is upset that Miss Purday is getting married and isn’t wearing the ring that he gave her. The director did this to show us how Ardel is feeling about Miss Purday being engaged to someone else. This works well with the change in Ardels facial expressions which went from happy to sad when he sees the ring. This reminds me of when Ardel is sitting in class staring at Miss Purday and the camera focuses on Ardel showing us that he has a crush Miss Purday.

A low angle camera shot was also used successfully in The Crush. We see this when Micheal Creagh(The director), used low angle camera shots when Ardel was looking at the wardrobe. This is used to show the audience that Ardel is thinking about using the gun on Pierce(Miss Purdays Fiance).  The purpose of this is to foreshadow something happening with the gun. Combined with the lighting to signal that something bad is going to happen. This also reminds me of the shot of him looking at the cowboy poster.

Sound effects were thankfully used in this film. For instance, the director used happy music the first time Ardel was walking through the park after giving miss Purday his ring. This makes the audience feel happy because they are listening to upbeat music. The director did this to show us that Ardel is happy that Miss Purday Accepted his ring. This worked well with another scene in the film which shows Ardel walking through the park again but the music, light and his facial expression have changed to show that he’s upset and sad.

This is my creative writing. This is unfinished

The forest felt lonely almost empty. All you can hear is the chirping of birds in the distance and the leaves crunching when you walk on them. In the distance, I just make out three objects. as I come closer those three random objects appear to be chairs. A golden-brown colour wood with blue cushions.  The cushions felt like they have been left there for many years. The wood had started turning green colour from the mould. 

All of a sudden I hear the crunching of leaves again but I’m alone. I slowly turn around. behind the tall slim birch trees, I make out a brown bear.

Introduction:

1st Paragraph: 

One of the many reasons I think books are better than movies is that movies leave stuff out. movies usually last for an hour-hour and a half. For example, harry potter books have a load more information compared to the movies. In these movies, some characters have been cut out, while other characters say things that they didn't say in the books. 

2nd Paragraph:

Watch movies doesn't really leave a lot of space for imagination. While reading about you think of what characters look and sound like in your head, However in movies, you can see how each character looks like and their emotions throughout the movie. But while reading you can create your own things from the story using the descriptive words in each sentence. 

I am aiming to improve my writing in the following 3 areas: Structure and Language, Sentence Structure, and Vocabulary

What is your work about?  We doing a mural. The mural has to relate to the word whanaungatang(meaning relationship) 

How is it composed?  We made our vocal point the words(Whanau Aroha/Family love) and add a heart behind the o in Aroha. 

Why have you used the colours you have used? We used Pink and blue because we thought it would look good together.
